About After Forty Feel

After Forty Feel is an independent magazine for the second act — the decades between 40 and 60, when the biggest health and life decisions tend to arrive all at once. Hormones shift, metabolism changes, sleep gets unreliable, money windows open and close, and the life you built starts asking new questions. Most of what's written for this stage is either leftover 2002-era panic, supplement marketing dressed up as wellness, or three-hour podcasts that leave you with more tabs than answers. We do a different thing: we read the actual research and tell you what it says — including when the honest answer is "it's unsettled."

What we cover

Five desks, one audience. Body (metabolism, weight, training, longevity), Mind (hormones and the brain, sleep, mood, cognition), Money (catch-up contributions, Roth conversions, second-act income), Life (empty nest, relationships, reinvention), and Looks (skin, hair, and what the trials actually show). Every piece is built to be acted on: frameworks you can print and bring to a doctor, trackers so you know whether a change actually worked, and tools vetted against real evidence and real prices.

How we work

We are research-led. Every clinical claim links to a primary source — NEJM, JAMA, Lancet, NAMS, the Endocrine Society, and the major re-analyses — with the lab and year named so you can check it yourself. We follow an explicit evidence hierarchy and we update pieces as the science moves. We don't fabricate citations, and we correct mistakes in the open. Read our full editorial standards and methodology for how we source, review, and update.

How we stay independent

After Forty Feel is reader-funded. We take no supplement-brand sponsorships, ever. Some links on the site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you — but never on the editorial itself, and only for things we would genuinely use. We also run advertising to keep the core archive free. The membership (the Inner Circle) is what lets us answer to readers instead of sponsors. Our full disclosure is on the disclosure page.

Who's behind it

After Forty Feel is a founder-led, independent publication: one founder, one mission, and a small group of contributors who care about getting midlife right. We are actively expanding our editorial review process, including credentialed clinical review of our health content. If you're a physician, NP, RD, or other qualified clinician interested in reviewing, we'd like to hear from you.
