What TRAVERSE actually settled and what it didn't.
The TRAVERSE trial (2023, NEJM) enrolled 5,246 men with hypogonadism and established cardiovascular safety for testosterone replacement at a level that ended a decade of clinical uncertainty.
No significant difference in MACE (major adverse cardiovascular events) vs placebo in 5,246 men with hypogonadism and elevated cardiovascular risk. Note: atrial fibrillation, pulmonary embolism, and prostate-related events were higher in the TRT arm and merit discussion.
